    Pet Day 2018

    Thursday, 18 October, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm approx

    Preparations for this year’s Pet Day are well under way.  We still want to hear from families who will be bringing pets, if you haven’t already advised us.  Home Schooling families are welcome to join with us for the day, too.

    Pet Day is always a great family fun day and we hope many parents, relatives, and friends will be able to come along for the day.

    The following is our plan for the day:

    Pet Day Programme:

    • 9:00 arrival and organisation:
      • bring your children and animals directly to school ready for a 9.30 am.
    • 9:30 animal judging [on the top field]:
      • agricultural [no calves this year, sorry]:
        • lambs,
        • goats,
      • domestic pets:
        • dogs,
        • all other pets
      • 11:00 morning tea/sausage sizzle.
        • Bbq, food, and drinks will be for sale.
        • Craft and floral exhibits on display
      • 12:30 closing:
        • spot prizes,
        • clean up, and depart

    Animals:

    • Animals will be kept on the top field and can be tethered to the fence.
    • The field will be used as the area for showing and judging.
    • Please make sure your children are considerate of the needs of all animals to avoid causing them distress on the day.
    • Details of rules for pets are attached. Please read these so that you can start preparing your animals now.

    Floral and Craft Exhibits:

    • During the weeks prior to Pet Day, students will prepare various craft exhibits for competition and display:
    • Preparation Day: On Wednesday, 17 October, the children will spend the day making floral and craft entries at school in preparation for Pet Day
    • Home Schooling families are welcome to join in for this, too [please let us know a day or two in advance that you will be coming].
    • Could all children please bring plenty of flowers to school on Wednesday. Surplus flowers will be pooled for general use, but students may set aside their own flowers for their own particular projects, too.
    • Bring any vegetables you may want to use for making vegetable creations [all age groups].

    Judging of Floral and Craft Exhibits:

    • All floral and craft activities will be judged at the Learning Centre on Wednesday after school. These will be judged in 4 categories:
    • Junior: Age 5-7
    • Primary: Age 8-10
    • Middle School: Age 11-13
    • Senior: Age 14+

    Competition Rules:

    Food Stall

    • We plan to have a BBQ and drinks available for sale, as well as tea and coffee.
    • Please let us know if you are able to help with this, or any other aspects of the day.
