Notices, 25 June

Dear Parents,

Hello, everyone. Here are some things you need to know about for the last few weeks of the term…

Peter

Important Public Meeting: The Case for Christian Education, 7pm. Friday 6 July, Church of Christ, Wellsford

Todd Roughton, Principal of Home Schooling NZ, will be conducting a public meeting in Wellsford on Friday, 6 July, as shown in the flyer below.

We encourage all Living Way families to have at least one parent attend this meeting, in which Todd will explain the importance of Christian Education.

Todd’s talk will not just focus on home schooling.  We will also be promoting Living Way and explaining the benefits of having children in a Christian school.

We encourage you to promote this meeting to people you know who would benefit from hearing about Christian Education and why it is so vitally important for our children today.

Forest Bridge Trust: are you still using their traps?

The Forest Bridge Trust will have contacted you if you have any of their traps that you are no longer using from last year’s Catch-IT programme.

If you don’t wish to continue trapping, PLEASE can you return your trap(s) to school so that they can redistribute them to new participating schools.

End of Term Honour Roll Sleepover,

Thursday, 5 July, 7pm til Friday, 6 July, 9am

We are planning to end our term with a sleepover at the Learning Centre on the last Thursday of term.  This event will be an Honour Roll event, as a reward for the emphasis we are currently having on good work habits and good manners.

The Honour Roll Sleepover will comprise an evening of games, a supper, then a late night movie for older students [younger students will go to bed, or perhaps go home at that time, at parents’ discretion].  The following morning, there will be a breakfast at school and then the students will be able to go home for the day.  Sharon and Peter will oversee, but we need some parents to help with supervision, please.

Children will need to bring:

  • goodies to share for supper
  • $2.00 for breakfast
  • sleeping bag, pillow, and mattress/bed roll/pyjamas/toiletries

Start time: Thursday night from 7pm

Finish time: please collect your children by 9am on Friday morning.

Contact Sharon if you are able to help, or would like to know more about our plans.

Curriculum Planning:  God is a God of Unity, He wants us to Live in Unity

This is our theme for next term.  We need to start planning the unit for next term now.

Here are some ideas we are already considering:

    1. an ecosystem study
    2. teamwork activities – working in unity as teams to complete various challenges
    3. harmony and unity in music – preparing some kind of musical item

We would really appreciate input from parents.  If you have ideas for activities, or know of people who might be able to share knowledge or skills, or have suggestions for places to visit, please write your ideas below and get them back to us by Thursday, 28 June.

Here are some subject areas we would value your suggestions for:

About the Author:

Mr T

I have been the Principal at Living Way since 1999, when my wife and I and our family moved here from Auckland.
We have loved being part of the Wellsford community, our local church community, and of course, the school community at Living Way.
I believe strongly in the value of Christian Education to help parents raise children that are strong and healthy, who love God and who will make a positive difference in the world around them.
