Notices 21 August 2017

CatchIT programme update:12 August (29)

Our Year 4 to 8 children have been enjoying this conservation project.  Currently, we are trapping pests, such as rats, mice, possums, and ferrets.  Please remind your children to check their traps regularly, and to experiment with different baits and locations.  Parents should attend to the larger, more dangerous traps for possums and stoats.   Please also record all trapping results on the record sheet so that trapping data can be collected and submitted to the project online database later this month.

Mid Term Break, Monday 28 August

School will be closed next Monday for mid-term break.

FOS Meetings

Our last FOS Meeting was cancelled for lack of support. We have not yet set a date for another meeting, but we are likely to call a meeting sometime towards the end of the term.

Friends of School [FOS] is the vehicle by which parents and supporters of Living Way can assist the school board with fundraising for projects and with organising special events.  It is a parent-run body and we need parents to take an active part in making FOS more effective.  If you are interested in helping to re-vitalise FOS, please talk with Peter or Sharon about how you might be able to contribute.

Inter School Cross-Country Run:

Thursday, 31 August, 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, Pakiri School (and nearby farmland):

This event is for students in Years 1-8.  Home-school families are welcome to join with us (please phone in with details).

This year, the course will involve running along Pakiri Beach, as the usual course is too wet and boggy.   The day also includes a designated session of games for each age group in addition to each age group’s cross country run.   We will need parents to help with transport and marshalling.

Departing:

  • from LWLC by 9:30am
  • from Pakiri at 1:15pm, returning approximately 2:00 pm.

After the event, children may go directly home with their parents, or remain at Living Way until 3:00pm.

Cost:

  • $5 per child for transport money for those whose parents cannot provide transport (this will be charged to your stationery account).

Children need to bring:

  • School sports tee shirts will be issued.
  • Running shoes (old ones).
  • A change of clothes for afterwards.
  • Lunch and drink (food and drink will also be on sale, as below)
  • Sunhats/sunscreen

Tuck-shop food will be on sale on the day.

Please send in your reply slip a.s.a.p. so that we can arrange transport well in advance.

Mr T

I have been the Principal at Living Way since 1999, when my wife and I and our family moved here from Auckland.
We have loved being part of the Wellsford community, our local church community, and of course, the school community at Living Way.
I believe strongly in the value of Christian Education to help parents raise children that are strong and healthy, who love God and who will make a positive difference in the world around them.
