Notices 10 April 2017

Dear Parents,

We had a lovely day out at Auckland Zoo on Thursday.  A few showers of rain didn’t dampen our enjoyment or enthusiasm for the day.  Kirsty, from the zoo, gave the children an excellent lesson about adaptation to habitats, and afterward we enjoyed ambling around the zoo.  It really was delightful to observe the children and their wide-eyed wonder as they experienced each new creature.  Truly, God has made all things beautiful!

Thank you to Heather, Sheryl, Michelle, and Rory for coming along with us to help for the day [and to Sally Rose with her home-schooled family].  Check out these lovely photos, most of which were taken by Monique Balfour [Year 13], our photographer for the day…

Thank you to so many who have helped in various ways this term. It has been a busy term, with snorkelling, swimming, athletics, the Honey Centre, animal projects, the zoo trip, and the kindling fund-raiser, and we could not have done so much without the support of willing parents.   Please know that your involvement has really helped to enrich your children’s education.

May you have a safe and relaxing time with your children over the coming school holiday period.

Peter

Kindling Fundraiser
We had a good time making kindling for sale at Steve and Michelle Cavanagh’s home on Saturday.  Only of a few of us were there, but we made a good initial amount of kindling, all boxed up and ready to sell for winter fires.  Then it was time for a shared lunch and good company together. Thank you to Steve, Michelle and Mary, Dax and Janet and family, Allistair and Sharon, and Tania for helping make this happen.

Dress-Up Day and Shared lunch tomorrow

Our Student Council has organised a dress up day [movie characters] tomorrow, with a shared lunch and then team competitions in the afternoon.  Please can your child bring something to share for lunch.  Please also make sure that any costume your child might wish to wear is appropriate for our school – if in doubt, check with Peter, Rita, or Sharon.

Projects and Desserts, Tuesday, 11 April, 7pm – 8.30pm

I hope that we will have a good turnout tomorrow night to enjoy our children’s presentations of the research projects they have been working on this term.  Each student will talk briefly about the animal they have been studying. Afterwards, there will be time to look over the various projects as we enjoy dessert together.  Although senior students [Years 10+] were not involved in these projects, it would be nice to have them come along, too, to support the younger ones as they make their presentations.

  • Time:    7.00 pm til approximately 8.30 pm
  • Bring: a dessert to share [and serving utensils, if needed].
  • FOS will provide disposable plates and cutlery, and tea and coffee.

We hope to see you there.

End of Term One

School finishes on Thursday, 13 April for Easter and the school holiday break.  Parents may collect their children at lunchtime [12.30 pm] on Thursday, or they may remain at school until 3 pm if it is not practical for you to collect them early.  Term Two begins on Monday, 1 May.
