We had a great time away with our senior students on their “Road Trip” last week. The earthquakes in Wellington meant we had to change our plans on the go, find alternative accommodation, and concoct a new itinerary, all within budget. Although this seemed like a problem at the time, we are grateful for the way things worked out, and I think we were able to provide an even better itinerary than our original plan.
We spent the week in the Taupo /Rotorua area, visited the Lake Taupo Christian School, glassblowing, the Waiouru Army Museum, swimming pools in Taupo, Gondola and luge riding in Rotorua, mountain biking, jet boat sprint rides, and explored thermal areas in Rotorua and gold mining tunnels in Karangahake gorge. In addition to all this, we had some good times of reading and discussing Scripture, praying together, and some good old-fashioned home-grown fun together.
I was really grateful for the way the students pitched in to help so willingly, adapted to the changes in plans, and participated so fully and with a great sense of fun and adventure throughout the week. Thank you, Sharon, for overseeing our food requirements, and Cindy, for coming along to support and add to the fun. Thank you to the Cullen family for helping with planning and for providing their van for the week. And thank you, God, for Your protection and blessings on our trip – we had a great adventure!
